After Dark – Fundraiser for Knockainey National School

CONGRATULATIONS to the hardworking fundraising committee at Knockainey National school who continue their great work in fundraising for the primary school’s building fund. Parents and members of the board of management were helped by the tight knit community as they put on a spectacular night of fashion at Bulgaden Castle last Saturday 9. The fashion show featured all the latest styles from stores like Dorothy Perkins, Be Fabulous, Wallis, Evans, Kiddies Korner, Mothercare, Burtons Menswear, X-Pose, Little Chancers, Kiddy Korner, Glow Fashion Accessories, AX Paris and local shop Raspberry Red. More than 75 pupils took to the catwalk to showcase the looks and other special guests who joined the for the special event included actress Helen Norton, who plays Vivienne from popular Irish soap ‘Fair City’, Stuart Taylor from Limerick FC, Mairead Lavery, Editor of Irish Country Living Magazine, James Ryan and Gavin O’Mahony from the Munster winning Limerick hurling team and former Miss Limerick Becky Costelloe.

Other highlights from the evening included a Best Dressed Lady and Gent competition and Best Accessorised plus a generous raffle supported by local businesses and half time entertainment from magician Terence Andrews.

School Principal Marie Moloney was delighted with the turnout for the fundraiser which raised a fantastic €8,100 and she thanked everyone who helped out including the children who modelled, the committee who had many long nights of planning, the sponsors, Carmel Hayes, manager at Shaw’s who was MC for the event and Louise Naughton of Evans who was backstage co-ordinator. She also thanked Esther Hurley for procuring so many fantastic raffle prizes, Carolyn O’Neill of Tiger Lillies Wedding Décor and Floral Designs, a parent at the school who helped with the props, floral displays and backdrops for the fashion show and local band Never the Less who provided the music, sound and lighting.

Marie also thanked everyone who attended the show and reminded everyone that the next and final fundraising event will be the school Christmas concert on December 12 and 13.
