After Dark – Launch of Aladdin at UCH

THERE was a real buzz at the launch of this year’s pantomime ‘Aladdin’ which took place at Limerick Strand Hotel on Tuesday 12 afternoon.

Arriving guests enjoyed refreshments in City View suite as they gathered to hear details about the much awaited offering at University Concert Hall. ‘Aladdin’ is supported by the Irish Daily Mail, Limerick’s Live 95fm and Aramark proudly supporting ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services.

Ireland’s Panto Queen Adele King, who will return to UCH as Widow Twinkee, was there and spoke enthusiastically about the all star production opening this December.

It wasn’t surprising to learn that Twink was returning having wowed the crowds in Limerick last year as Cinderella’s fairy godmother  – after a 12 year absence from panto, The popular star spoke at the launch about how she was looking forward to reuniting with producer Robert C. Kelly to head the all star cast that will include ‘Voice of Ireland’ runner up / Celebrity Bainisteoir Richie Hayes as Wishee Washee, TV3’s Leanne Moore as Princess Jasmine, Adam Lawlor as Abanazer and Donncha O’Dea, the RTEJr ‘Beo Show’ host as the Genie. Myles Breen will take on the role of Emperor and Richard Lynch will play the Chinese Policeman. Making his Panto debut this year in his native town will be 2010’s Mr. World and RTE Lotto presenter, Kamal Ibrahim in the title role.

Mayor of Limerick Kathleen Leddin spoke encouragingly about the production and the revenue it creates in Limerick. Sinead Hope, newly appointed general manager of UCH, made clear that the venue is looking forward to opening its doors for the show on December 20.
