YOUNG chef MáirÃde Bennis, a first year student at Hazelwood College in Dromcollogher has the right ingredients to dish up a winning recipe in the Ben’s Beginners competition. Twelve-year-old MáirÃde is one of four finalists of the Uncle Ben’s sponsored competition, which gives entrants a chance to win a €5,000 cash prize for their family plus a €10,000 donation for their school to fund a healthy eating initiative. MáirÃde, along with her mum Anita, was given the opportunity to cook her signature rice dish for TV chef Neven Maguire, who decides the overall winner of the competition. The winner will then have their signature rice dish featured on the Today Show on RTE One on December 2.
