After Dark – At the Brian Hogan fundraiser

THE family and friends of Brian Hogan came out in force last week to support the popular young Limerick man and raise funds for his recovery. Brian, who was working and living in Nottingham, England as a quantity surveyor, was the victim of an unprovoked assault in 2009, sustaining serious brain injuries that left him blind and paralysed on his left side. Brian, who is also an accomplished singer/ songwriter, has refused to give up and neither has anyone who knows him as they continue to raise funds for a stem cell programme in China for his benefit.
There was a superb turnout at the special fundraiser last Thursday 14 which took place at Ballyneety Golf Club’s vibrant new restaurant Vines. Paula Keating, who works with Brian’s sister Siobhán, helped organise the event which began with a champagne reception followed by a delicious four course meal in Vines. Those attending the event to show their support were then treated to a fashion show organised by Hilary Thompson Agency, showcasing styles from top boutiques such as In Vogue, Rococco in Adare,  Gretta Gibbs, Imasa and hat designs from Milliner of the Year, Hattitude in Kinsale. Other highlights of the special evening included more than 60 spot prizes from generous local sponsors. Limerick band Hermitage Green, who are one of the most in demand bands out there right now, performed at this fundraiser – much to the delight of those attending with the party continuing until late. According to Paula, Brian and his family were delighted with support at the event which raised over €4,000 for his fund.
