After Dark – 40th Anniversary of the Crescent Shopping Centre

F0RTY years in business is a special milestone so it wasn’t surprising to see the Crescent Shopping Centre pulling out all the stops to celebrate its ruby anniversary last weekend.

The popular shopping centre hosted a week of celebrations with all the stores coming together with lots of special offers as well as various family events and fun activities throughout the venue.

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan kicked off the celebrations at the official launch on Monday 18. He spoke about the shopping centre which now boasts 90 retails outlets and employs around 1,600 people; he referenced their journey over four decades in business and officially launched a week of celebrations.

These celebrations were a special ‘thank you’ to the thousands of loyal customers for their support over the years and featured events like the family fun day (which featured an Elverys Sports Challenge) and lots of voucher giveaways.

Another highlight of the celebrations was the Crescent Fashion Show on Thursday 21 evening in association with the Holman Lee Agency which we captured for you here. The event showcased all the top fashion stores which make the centre so successful and there was also a special guest appearance from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ TV host Tess Daly who jetted into to help Crescent Shopping Centre celebrate its 40th Birthday in style.

Tess said she was particularly delighted to be asked to help celebrate the occasion because it gave her a great excuse to visit Ireland and to indulge in one of her favourite pastimes which is, of course, shopping!

It was a very busy time at the Dooradoyle centre as Santa also arrived at the weekend and Munster’s David Wallace and RTE’s Emma O’Driscoll showed up to turn on the Christmas lights. Happy 40th birthday to all at Crescent  Shopping Centre!!
