Two men stabbed during Limerick city aggravated burglary

TWO MEN are recovering in hospital after receiving stab wounds during an aggravated burglary at an apartment in Limerick in the early hours of this Monday morning.

Gardai at Henry Street are investigating the incident that occurred at an apartment on Lower Glentworth Street where a lone male entered the building armed with a knife.

The two male occupants, aged 22 and 23 years, received stab wounds during the altercation but are not believed to be life threatening.

It is understood that a lone male, (34) entered the apartment and stole cash and mobile phones during the incident.

Both injured men were taken to University Hospital in Limerick.

A 34-year-old man was arrested nearby and is currently being detained at Henry Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Some property was also recovered during this operation and investigations are continuing.
