Female murder suspect released without charge

A WOMAN arrested in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Patrick Redmond at an apartment in Limerick has been released without charge.

The female in her 40s was arrested yesterday and brought to Henry Street Garda station for questioning.

As per the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice act, she was detained for a combined period of 24 hours for questioning.

However, Gardai investigating the murder of the pensioner who suffered a single stab wound, released her without charge at 3pm this Thursday.

The file, in connection with the investigation and questioning, is to be transmitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for further examination.

Patrick Redmond died last month after Gardai were called to a neighboring 1st floor Mount Kennett apartment, where the 65 year old lived to find him bleeding profusely from a single stab wound.

He died later in hospital.

Me Redmond is survived by his three adult daughters and separated wife.

The investigation into the murder continues.
