Countdown begins for arrival of Santa

Andrew Carey

SANTA, having called to parts of the Pacific belt including New Zealand and Australia, is making his way around the globe to deliver presents and gifts to all the boys and girls around as part of the 38,000 mile one night trip.

Last spotted flying through the sky over the oceans and mountains on the way to Ireland, Santa has sent messages to children in Limerick to go to bed early and to make sure their bedrooms are tidy. The “no peeking” order remains in place for all children.

Tiny Barbie shoes and Lego men have already taken their toll on the Rudolph’s and Santa’s feet as they go from house, to hut to apartment, so make sure bedroom, hall, stairs and landings are clear.

NORAD, the official Santa tracker on the web, indicates that everything is going according to plan but weather conditions are testing the new anti storm canopy that has been fitted on the Sleigh.

The invisible cover, developed by Elves and inventors at the North Pole, was commissioned due to the adverse weather around the world in the run up to Christmas.

However, the Minister for Time Alan Shatter, who is also responsible for Justice, has said that Santa is due to arrive to Limerick homes on time.

Santa’s journey will, as usual, be tracked by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (known as NORAD). Girls and boys can follow his progress on noradsanta.org. He may also be sighted by the Irish Air Corps Radar System when he comes over the horizon late on Christmas Eve to visit families throughout the State.”
