WINDS and heavy rain battered the country last night and will continue for a period today making for difficult driving conditions on Christmas Eve, however early reports from the North Pole indicate that Santa’s anti storm sleigh cover has been completed and installed for tonight’s important trip around the world.

Met Eireann issued an “orange alert” weather warning while the weather in Santa’s homeland remains cold with scattered snow showers.

Last night’s storm passed to the north of the country but some winds are expected to remain through the day.

In light of the recent unfavourable weather patterns, Santa’s elves and inventors made the new magically storm canopy to help Santa’s sleigh on the 38,000 mile journey to visit all the homes and children around the world.

In advance of tonight’s “big trip”, the Irish Air Corp has cleared airspace around the Ireland and An Garda Siochana will be coordinating on the ground facilities for Santa.

Speaking via his PNP, Portable North Pole Console, Santa said that he was looking forward to tonight’s annual trip and especially trying all the treats that are left out for him.

“I hope all the boys and girls go to bed early tonight as tomorrow morning there will be great gifts and toys for those on my good list. Of course this is my favourite time of the year and the weather will be no problem thanks to the new cover that the elves are putting on my sleigh. My Santa suit will keep me warm throughout the night and this will help with the wind and rain.

During the video link to the North Pole, Santa spoke to a number of the Limerick Post Staff. He discussed the upcoming Reindeer games with Sports Editor Donn O’Sullivan, while some of the Elves, spoke to Liam

Togher
about the North Pole Winter Games.
Bernie English spoke to the big man about magical issues and new developments with the Sleigh and news editor Gerry Collison spoke to him about what he does in the off season.

Alan Jacques and Eric Fitzgerald delved into the music of the North Pole while Santa was happy to add a little flavour with cooking tips from Mrs Claus.

The in depth conversation also covered many other popular topics with the big man in red as the elves packed the bags and the sleigh full of toys and gifts.

A recent survey showed that the most popular treats left out for Santa were cookies and a mince pie with a glass of milk while Rudolph gets a carrot and some water. Christmas cake is also often left out for both of them.

Other drinks include Guinness for strength and mulled wine.

The Limerick Post will be providing regular updates throughout the day as to how Santa is getting on during his worldwide trip.

Back to the weather, a bright joyous morning is predicted for the start of Christmas Day.

The entire Limerick Post Staff would like to wish you and yours a wonderful Christmas and excellent New Year.
