Limerick lights up a year sure to remember

LIMERICK certainly was a lady this New Year’s Eve and she looked amazing as the city welcomed 2014 and it’s status as city of culture with all the celebration and ceremony it deserved.

Packed with revelers braving the chill and the odd rain shower, the New Year’s Eve celebrations included a fairytale pageant parade, a stunning fireworks display over the River Shannon before the highlight event at Merchants Quay where Dolores O’Riordan performed live with the Irish Chamber Orchestra at an open air extravaganza.

Joined by music sensations The Strypes and The Coronas, the performance of Limerick’s biggest music export and rock star was beamed to homes by RTE in conjunction with a countdown show in Dublin.
