The Council announced it has signed a construction contract with M Fitzgibbon Contractors for the delivery of the housing.

Welcoming the news, Mayor of Limerick John Moran said:  “This investment of over €8million represents a very positive step in addressing housing needs in Patrickswell.”

“The Barnakyle homes will offer high‑quality, modern accommodation for families and individuals, helping to strengthen the community. Together with the Council’s recent acquisition of lands in the area, the Barnakyle development demonstrates a co‑ordinated, forward‑looking approach to meeting both current and future housing needs in this growing community.”

Council Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery, added:  “This is a very welcome development for Patrickswell and the surrounding area. There is clear demand for housing locally and these 24 new homes will make real difference to families and individuals waiting for suitable accommodation.”
