GARTH Brooks fans in Limerick were left with unanswered prayers this Thursday as tickets for his three Irish shows this summer sold out in just 90 minutes.

Tickets for the Country Music star’s Croke Park shows on July 25 and 26 next were snapped up by 11am. Some of the American singer’s fans had been queuing outside Ticketmaster outlet Gleeson Sport Scene on Upper William Street since early Tuesday morning.

Despite a third concert date for July 27 being added today to meet the demand, scores of loyal Garth Brooks fans in the city were left in pieces. All three dates quickly sold out with 240,000 tickets purchased in under two hours. An estimated 200 fans queued in the rain for tickets in Limerick.

Steve Gleeson of Gleeson Sport Scene told the Limerick Post that only 240 tickets for the three concerts were sold at the city’s Ticketmaster outlet.

“We are not allocated tickets. There is one Ticketmaster pool for tickets from which all outlets dip into. There was an allocation of six tickets per person and these had to be printed out manually,” Mr Gleeson explained.

“We advised people not to queue but we feel very sorry for those people that did not get tickets. It is very disappointing for them,” he said.

Gardai were at the Ticketmaster outlet this Thursday but the Limerick Post were told that this was a precautionary measure which is put in place during the allocation of tickets for all big concert events.
