Teens arrested in suspected Limerick arson attack

AN arson investigation is underway by Limerick Gardai after they arrested two teenagers following the discovery of an extensive fire at a house near the city centre.

Shortly after 2am in the early hours of Saturday morning, Gardai and Fire Services attended a house fire on the South Circular Road.

Battling the blaze for almost 45 minutes, the house was extensively damaged as a result, but the fire was brought under control a short time after.

No one was in the house at the time and there are no reported injuries.

Two males, aged in their late teens, were arrested by Gardai near to the scene a short time later.

They are currently detained at Rovboro Road Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The scene is preserved pending a technical and forensic examination.
