They bought a €4 Quick Pick ticket in Raheen Foodstore on that fateful date and today picked up a cheque for €1 million at National Lottery offices. The delighted group shared last Saturday’s €2 million jackpot with a couple from Co. Wexford.

“We can’t believe our luck,” said one of the family members, as they toasted their win with a glass of champagne. “Friday 13th is unlucky for some but for us it turned out to be the complete opposite. It’s unreal! From now on, thirteen will be one of our lucky numbers.”

The family, who wishes to remain private, is looking forward to making plans for their new found fortune. “It’s going to be a great summer,” they said.

This win brings to over €200.5 million the total amount won in jackpots by National Lottery players in Co. Limerick. Dolores McNamara continues to hold the record for biggest win in Limerick and indeed the country. She scooped €115 million on EuroMillions in 2005.

Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is heading for €2.5 million. Play online or in your local National Lottery agent store to be in with a chance to win. It could be you!

National Lottery good causes benefit from the sale of all National Lottery games, with one third of all sales (approx) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.

To date the National Lottery has raised over €4.4 billion for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
