Limerick river rescue

Limerick city fire and rescue MAN was rescued from the River Shannon this afternoon (Monday) after a member of the public saw him enter the water.

The man went into the water at Shannon bridge at around 2.15 pm. Within minutes, the emergency services were scrambled.

Limerick fire brigade and ambulance services both responded while Limerick Marine Search and Rescue launched a boat and the coast guard helicopter was mobilised.

The man was rescued by members of the fire brigade crew and brought to the University Hospital in Dooradoyle for treatment.
