A LIMERICK man tried to save a teenager’s life at a music festival in Sydney after he noticed she was shivering and “didnt look well”.

Owen Mullins (29) from Raheen, told The Limerick Post, he was attending the Harbourlife Music Festival with friends, when he noticed a young girl sitting down and shivering. Mr. Mullins asked the girl was she okay but didn’t get a response. After speaking with her friend, he was told she had taken a pill.

“I sat near her and watched her for about 30 second and told her friend that we needed to get help as the girl’s lips started to turn purple. The friend agreed and I ran and got the paramedics,” he said.

Georgina Batters was treated by paramedics at the scene before she was removed to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she later died. It was reported she has taken one-and-half ecstasy tablets.

Mr. Mullins subsequently heard that Ms Batters had passed away. Mr. Mullins said he was shocked by her passing and that people were recording the scene as paramedics tried to save her life.

“I was so shocked. I just figured that once she was in the hands of the paramedics and the doctors that she would pull through. From what I’ve heard I think she had an allergic reaction rather than an overdose. Instead of trying to help, a lot of people were catching it on camera, which was quite disgusting,” he said.
