An estimated 15 per cent more passengers will make the journey home over Christmas period through Shannon Airport as traffic growth across 2014 continues into the festive season.

The Christmas travel period began in earnest last weekend and by the first week in January, some 51,000 will have used Shannon Airport to get to and from their chosen Christmas destination, a spokesman for the airport said.
