LOCALS in Cratloe who have waged their second campaign in twenty years to save the local post office were celebrating this week, with news that the facility is safe for at least another 18 months.

The post office has been at the core of the community for twenty years, run as a family business in the capable leadership of postmaster, Dermod O’Brien.

Local sources said that the last time the future of the community service was under threat was twenty years ago and Cratloe people fought toot and nail then, too and won the day.

‘People are really thrilled – he news has just come and we’re very happy. There was a huge campaign to keep it,” one resident involved in the campaign told the Limerick Post.
