Bin the bills

Oscar-can2WITH the first tranche of Irish Water bills arriving in Limerick this week, the ‘We Won’t Pay’ campaign is calling on people throughout the city and county to join their ‘Bin the Bills’ protest this Saturday, April 11 at 2pm at City Hall. Cllr Cian Prendiville is hoping for a big turn at the weekend to “show the government that we will not be bullied, and boost the confidence of those unsure whether to boycott or not”. Around 39,000 water bills are due to be delivered across the country this week, with more due in the weeks ahead. These bills will be for €40 or €65 every quarter, but opponents say that if paid the charges will rapidly rise.
