TWO men have been arrested in Limerick in connection with the murder of Jeffrey Hannon over seven years ago when he was bludgeoned to death just yards from his home.

The arrests were made this Tuesday morning as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of the 19-year-old father of two.

When Mr Hannon’s body was found just yards from his Southill home a murder investigation was launched and 20 people were arrested and questioned but no charges were made.

This Tuesday, two men aged in their late 20s and 40s were arrested and detained at Roxboro and Henry Street garda stations under sections 4 and 30 of the Criminal Justice Act respectively and can be held for a period of 24-hours without charge.

Mr Hannon’s family have constantly appealed to the public for information in connection with the death of Jeffrey.

The 19-year-old father-of-two was found just yards from his family home at O’Malley Park in the early hours of November 22, 2007. He had suffered injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

Detectives at Roxboro Garda Station have described the case as being a “ongoing complex and detailed inquiry”.

On the sixth anniversary of his son’s death, Alan Hannan took to Limerick‘s streets with over 1,000 posters to advertise the march and protest that took place on December 13, 2013. He says that the time since Jeffrey’s death have been a “complete nightmare” as his young daughter grows up without a father.

Jeffrey Hannan had only returned home from England and was out socialising on the night he was violently beaten to death.

Alan was featured speaking about the murder of his son on RTE‘s Prime time.
