Gymnastics – Ireland team announced for upcoming Europeans in Limerick

GYMNASTICS Ireland has announced the delegation that will compete in the 2015 Northern European Gymnastics Championships at the University of Limerick Sports Arena on the 19th & 20th September.  This year’s event comes at a pivotal time for all the gymnasts as it is just a month before the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, the primary qualifying event for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. With that in mind, many competing nations are set to use this event as key preparation event for Glasgow and beyond.

Team Ireland comprises of Olympian, Kieran Behan who will join Andrew Smith, Jack Neill, Daniel Fox, Rhys McClenaghan and Rohan Sebastian in the Men’s category while the Women’s Artistic team compromises of Nicole Mawhinney, Ellis O’Reilly, Tara Donnelly, Casey Jo Bell and Liling Martin.

There will be a total of ten competing nations as Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Wales, Isle of Man, Norway, Scotland, Sweden and Ireland all fight it out for the 2015 Men’s and Women’s Team and All-Around titles on Saturday 19th September and the Apparatus titles on Sunday 20th September.

This is only the second time that Ireland have had the honour of hosting the Northern European’s following on from 2007 when it was held in Dublin City University.

The Northern European Gymnastics Championships is scheduled to take place between 9am and 6pm on Saturday 19th and 9am and 3pm on Sunday 20th.
