It is believed that the fire began in the living room of the bungalow property causing extensive damage to the entire building.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by garda forensic investigators.

Earlier on Monday morning, units from the Cappamore Fire and Rescue Service were despatched to a blaze which caught hold at a farmyard in County Limerick causing extensive damage to outbuildings as well as trapping and killing two bullocks.

The blaze, which took almost five hours to get under control, broke out just after midnight on the outskirts of Doon.

The two animals were trapped in a shed behind the blaze before before firefighters could contain the fire at the hay barn.

Gardai who also attended the scene have launched an investigation into how the fire started.

Anybody who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour around midnight on the Doon to Oola road on Sunday are asked to contact Bruff garda station on 061 382940.

The fire at the farm outside Doon comes three weeks after a fire at a stables on the outskirts of Oola.
