Mad about Moz? a treat for Limerick Morrissey fans

MOZARMY founder Julie Hamill will be in conversation at University of Limerick on Wednesday October 28. Glasgow born Julie Hamill became a fan of The Smiths in 1983 after seeing them perform ‘This Charming Man’ on Top Of The Pops and has followed Morrissey’s career since then. She founded the #Mozarmy, a twitter fanclub devoted to Morrissey which holds a gathering in Manchester annually. Hamill has published a unique book called ‘15 Minutes With You’ produced in a two year project interviewing Morrissey associates and famous fans such as comedians Sean Hughes and Frankie Boyle, producer Stephen Street and DJ Shaun Keaveny in a relentless pursuit to try to understand the enigma that is Morrissey and what makes him human.
Speaking ahead of the event at University of Limerick Julie said: “I’ve been a fan of Morrissey since I discovered The Smiths in 1983. It’s well documented that he has a handful of friends that he keeps close but as devout fan of his for over 30 years I want to learn as much as I can, for myself. This book is my attempt to find out Who is Morrissey? What does he really talk about?, What does he eat? How does he take his tea? What makes him laugh? Is he like me?”
The Conversation with Julie Hamill is a free event and all are welcome to attend. It takes place at 7pm in the Kemmy Business School Room KBG16 on Wednesday October 28.
