QUARRY Players will tread the boards earlier than usual in 2016, February 16 to 20, reviving ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’.  This McDonagh play was staged by them first at the Belltable and University Concert Hall in 2001. Since then, they have produced ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ and ‘The Lieutenant of Inishmore’.

Director John Anthony Murphy is on board and recruiting for auditions, with support from Quarry Player members.

With this group he has a history of fine work and grilling various casts hard: success so far with ‘The Field’, ‘Juno and the Paycock’ and Deirdre Kinahan’s ‘Moment’. Each of them carried Murphy’s high-octane passion for theatre as exposition of human frailty and redemptive insight.

Auditions are this Saturday November 14 at Na Piarsaigh GAA Club, Caherdavin from 12noon to 6pm. Requirements include: female aged 35 to 45 and female aged 55 to 70; a male aged between 40 to 50 and a male aged 17 to 20.

Rehearsals begin early December with a three-week break over Christmas and will resume again circa January 9. Phone 087-2941638 for alternate times.
