That Christmas magic in music for Limerick charities

OWEN Gilhooly, Lisnagry based at his Mid-West Vocal Academy and Aoide choir, when not teaching voice in Maynooth, is either leading, or party to, a series of December concerts. Each is in partnership with soloists and/ or choirs, each is for a good cause.
Owen’s niche professionally is tenor, after years singing baritone and his performances – a racy Rigoletto in May; the The Garda Band for Limerick Lions most recently – are essential viewing.

Below are dates and bookings for three locations for these spirit of Christmas concerts: St Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick city this Thursday 10; Caherconlish Millennium Centre on Saturday 12 and in St Columba’s Church on Bindon Street in Ennis on December 21, all 8pm.

P.S. Gilhooly sibling John, who has led London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall for the past decade, is knighted by Finland to The Order of the White Rose. This news has attracted hundreds of hits online but it’s just another Tuesday night for John Gilhooly OBE. Clock this for a CV at http://www.limerickpost.ie/…/limerick-man-gilhooly-is-knig…/
