A LIMERICK man living in London has devised a plan to connect bars and pubs around the world by twinning them as part of a new network of pubs initiative.

Living in London for more than 30 years, John Doyle (68) has taken the model that twins cities and towns around the world and is hoping to connect bars of the world in a similar way.

Officially to launch on St Patrick’s Day, the realisation of John’s idea will see him become the first in the world to create the pub network and the first to offer such a service he says.

From his home in the Borough of Hounslow in London, John launched twinyourpub.com online and received interest from pubs in countries such as Russia, Argentina, Africa, Australia and the US and has more than 400 applications already.

Speaking from London, Mr Doyle said “The Twin Your Pub idea is not limited to Irish pubs, it’s open to everyone” adding that in most cities abroad you will find an Irish bar.

According to John’s new site, “the purpose of this organisation is to promote social co-operation between purveyors of food and drink services throughout the world.

“When you twinyourpub, you become a member of the exclusive International “Best Pubs Club”, whose members have been vetted and twinned with similar establishments throughout the world.

“The benefits of this club are enormous, both to management and to customers alike. And are far too numerous (and exclusive) to list, but they are very very worthwhile.”

TwinYourPub has already joined pubs in Limerick and London and Mr Doyle is confident that more will follow.

The former electrician aims to have live video feeds between twinned pubs and annual subscribers will receive business advice, be entered into raffles for football and rugby tickets, and become members of a “Best Pub Club”.
