Gardai appeal for witness to knocked down pensioner

garda-accident-sign-2GARDAI are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic incident this Tuesday morning where a pedestrian was knocked down and injured in County Limerick.

Gardai in Newcastle West are seeking the assistance of the public after an elderly woman was struck by a vehicle on Sheehan’s Road around 9am on Tuesday.

The injured pensioner was taken to the University Hospital Limerick by ambulance and treated for her injuries.

However it is understood that the pensioner’s condition is not thought to be serious.

Separately, emergency services were dispatched to a single vehicle road crash at Barna earlier this Tuesday.

Shortly after 8:15, the car is understood to have lost traction on the road due to an diesel oil spill.

The spill closed the road between Abbeyfeale and Rathkeale on the N21 for a number of hours.
