Body of female recovered from River Shannon in #Limerick

Emergency responders were called out to the scene at the River Shannon where the body of a young woman was spotted in the water in #Limerick

THE body of a young woman, aged in her late 30s or early 40s, has been recovered from the River Shannon this Saturday afternoon in #Limerick after a member of the public spotted her in the water.

Three units from the Limerick city fire and rescue, together with their rescue boat FireSwift were scrambled to the scene after the alarm was raised.

Members of the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue also attended the emergency operation.

Swiftwater Rescue Technicians recovered the body of the woman from the water near Clancy Strand and brought her to the slipway at St Michael’s Rowing Club where she received CPR.

Emergency Paramedics and Gardai were at the slipway also.

However the female was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her remains have been taken to the University Hospital Limerick for formal identification and a post mortem examination.

Gardai are investigating.
