GARDAI are investigating what is believed to have been an arson attack on a medical Centre overnight in #Limerick.

The circumstances and source of a commercial fire at a Limerick medical Centre is now the focus of investigators who are trying to ascertain if the blaze was started deliberately with a petrol bomb during the early hours of this Monday morning.

The alarm was raised when a blaze took hold of the Walk in Medical Centre in Dooradoyle. The Centre is near the Hi-way bar and restaurant.

Three units from the Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 4:45am to the blaze.

Crews took around an hour to extinguish the blaze which was confined to one downstairs room.

The medical centre premises and the rest of the building was unoccupied at the time.

Gardai are now investigating the circumstances and are treating it as a suspicious fire as it is believed that a petrol bomb may have been used to ignite the blaze.

It is understood also that Gardai have been called to the area on a number of occasions recently in response to disturbances.
