Opinion – One of our own

Screen shot 2016-06-15 at 12.00.12MODERN professional sport can sometimes appears devoid of soul. The ‘money’ men have taken over most parts of the games we love, with cash considered king over winning and losing.
Last Saturday however, I was reminded about what sport is truly about. Yes, the Irish rugby teams performance in defeating South Africa was immense and unforgettable, but so was the out pouring of support for Munster’s CJ Stander. The South Africa native (with his wife) has worked tirelessly to integrate themselves in all things Limerick, Munster and Ireland in the three years they have been here. The support the two received this week from fans in the City and County would remind you about the real ‘inclusiveness’ of sport in Limerick.
