L.A.S.A. promoters are bringing a formidable night of experimental music to Pharmacia on Saturday June 6, featuring Irish avant-garde act Fixity alongside acclaimed American artists Califone and Tashi Dorji.

The evening serves as a celebration of the brand new album Assurance by Fixity, the project of Cork multi-instrumentalist and producer Dan Walsh. Formed in 2015, Fixity draws from psychedelic rock, minimalism, krautrock and free improvisation, built around an ever-growing pool of collaborators. Assurance marks a significant new chapter for the project.

Joining Fixity is Chicago-born outfit Califone, the long-running project of Tim Rutili, which grew out of the influential band Red Red Meat. Since 1998, Califone have been threading experimental noise, acoustic texture, cinematic imagery and microscopic poetry into a body of work spanning more than a dozen albums — a catalogue widely regarded as one of the most quietly distinctive in American independent music.

Also on the bill is Bhutanese-born, Asheville-based guitarist Tashi Dorji, a singular figure in contemporary avant-garde circles whose fiercely intuitive improvisations have earned him a devoted following. Signed to the respected Drag City label, Dorji arrives with a substantial discography behind him — including solo works Stateless (2020) and we will be wherever the fires are lit (2024) — and his forthcoming electric album low clouds hang, this land is on fire due in 2026.
