CASTLECONNELL’S 2016 Autumn Concert Series will begin on Tuesday August 30 at 8pm, returning again to the beauty of All Saints Church, across from Castle Oaks House Hotel.

RTE lyric FM’s Liz Nolan will introduce the Moynihan O’Leary Duo’s programme of ‘Shakespeare – Songs Rich and Strange!’ sung by soprano Deirdre Moynihan accompanied by guitarist Alec O’Leary.

From Limerick Arts Office we hear that ‘Songs Rich and Strange’ presents songs from Shakespeare’s plays and popular music from the life and times of The Bard (1564–1616) not written by him.

Much of the programme includes settings of Shakespeare’s plays along with songs that were directly referenced by characters in some works, including the ballad ‘Greensleeves’ alluded to in ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’.

Lime Tree Theatre has charge of box office and you can book online, bearing in mind the offer of any two concerts in this monthly Tuesday series for €25 on www.limetreetheatre.ie. Or buy tickets at All Saints door each month.
