THE University Concert Hall’s Music Appreciation Series opens for a fourth Autumn with three engaging talks by diverse speakers distinguished in their field.

Whether you are a music aficionado or someone who just loves to listen and is open to more, join the posse on Thursdays October 20, 27 and again November 3 from 7pm to 9pm.

First to the podium, Professor Mícheál Ó Súílleabháin makes a welcome return. He is joined by two new speakers respectively for the subsequent dates, RTE lyric fm’s Vlad Smishkewych and Dr Annina Ahola.

On Thursday October 20, Professor Mícheál Ó Súílleabháin will present a recital lecture on ‘The Carolan Celebration (1670 – 1738)’. Carolan as the nomadic blind Irish traditional harper holds together traces of the emerging traditional music of his time along with survivals of an older medieval Irish harping tradition. There’s a smattering of baroque there too.

Three talks are €36 or opt for each at €15. Friends of UCH are discounted.
