A MAN is fighting for his life this Thursday morning after he was viscously attacked in Limerick overnight.
The Limerick man, aged in his 50s suffered serious head injuries when he was attacked near the People’s Park.
Gardai are investigating the incident which occurred outside an apartment block on Lord Edward Street adjacent to a pharmacy and medical centre.
The man, who was initially treated at the scene when emergency paramedics were called, was brought to University Hospital Limerick but this morning he was transferred to Cork University Hospital where his condition is understood to be serious.
Crime scene investigators have conducted initial investigations at the scene and a number of items are to be forensically examined.
