FINE Gael councillor Gregory Conway has called on the Council to start the process of acquiring lands and rezoning same for industrial use and advance factories in the Kilmallock area.
In response to Cllr Conway at a recent area meeting, the Council explained that an amendment of the Kilmallock Local Area Plan is not possible as the Planning and Development Act 2024 no longer provides for amendment to, or preparation of new Local Area Plans.
“Under the new legislation, the Development Plan will instead incorporate all settlements that were previously covered by LAPs,” councillors were told.
