Super strong lineup for Seoda Shows Summer Party this weekend

Candice Gordon

PROMOTER Seoda Shows have put together a high quality lineup of local and national acts for this year’s Summer Party at Dolan’s Warehouse.

Playing this Saturday August 11 are Fontaines D.C., Pillow Queens, Melts, PowPig, and just announced, newly reformed, Fonda and very special guest Candice Gordon.

The Dublin born and Berlin based Candice Gordon plays her only Irish gig of the summer right here in Limerick. Candice recorded her debut album ‘Garden of Beasts’ both here and at Funkhaus in Berlin.
Candice says, “‘Garden of Beasts’ is inspired by moving to Berlin and facing the very dark and heavy history that is visible and inescapable everywhere in the city. It’s an exploration of human nature, the hubris of identity, dispossession and the conflict between the allure of savagery and the desperation for salvation from that.”

Dublin band Fontaines D.C. are busy on the festival circuit over the summer in Ireland, in the UK, Barcelona and Berlin. The guitar band signed to Partisan Records (home to John Grant and Cigarettes After Sex) just 12 months after their debut single ‘Liberty Belle’ was released.

Dublin punk-pop band Pillow Queens released the ‘State of The State’ four track EP via Specialist Subject Records in March. The recording is the product of Pillow Queens’ first year being a band. “An intense year of gigging, touring and really getting to know each other’s abilities fed into this recording,” says the band.

Psyche rock five-piece band Melts from Dublin is made up of ex Ghost Estates, The Things, The Mighty Stef and The North Sea members. The combo released a stomper of a debut single ‘Skyward’ in May and have got support from a slew of alternative DJs.

The promoter promises that “real people will be playing records for our dancing pals.” Seoda Shows will lay on random, surprise goodie bags and more. Tickets at www.dolans.ie for Seoda Shows Summer Party this Saturday August 11.
