The comedy caper of Cheat Sheets

September 23, 7.30pm launch

CITY VIEW Suite at Limerick Strand Hotel will be launch pad to Edward O’Dwyer’s new work of fiction on Sunday September 23 at 7.30pm. A man who has been cornerstone to White House Poets and Cuisle International Poetry Festival, Ed O’Dwyer is inviting all to his reading and signing and sale of ‘Cheat Sheets’. A cheese and wine reception will enhance the occasion.

What else to expect? This book of short stories is inflammatory and funny: “Lashings of farce, surrealism, quirkiness, twistedness, cunning, a whole load of scandalous behaviour and a generous helping of incredibly daft antics. You can expect to laugh out loud.”

He tells Arts page that “the book itself is my first book of fiction, called ‘Cheat Sheets’, and is a collection of 108 very short stories, all dark comedies on the theme of infidelity. Donal Ryan, author of ‘The Spinning Heart’, writes of them, ‘These are wicked little gems! Each one was a treat to read.’”

Then sweetly, this Limerick based writer admits that “without meaning to sound immodest, I genuinely believe this will be the funniest book many people will ever have read.”

The collection has each vignette outline a situation of “dreadful romantic betrayal and always in comically exaggerated and outlandish detail.” How can we resist? See you at Limerick Strand Hotel for cheating between these sheets.
