
THE week long celebration of Ireland’s links to New York City brings some exciting events to Limerick including talks, performances and DJ sets.
Here are some of the highlights.
Luka Bloom
Luka Bloom talks about his experience living in New York which inspired his album Riverside. Luka talks to Donal Dineen about why he moved from Ireland, the influences New York had on his life and his friendship with Lou Reed. This Thursday 11 from 8pm followed by a live performance.
The Sound of New York
At The Record Room this Friday 12, join DJs Aoife Nic Canna, Qool DJ Marv and Choice Cuts’ Mark ‘Scope’ Murphy as they share tracks and the stories behind their favourite New York sounds. That will be followed by DJ sets from all three.
Strictly Rhythm
The heady days of Limerick’s dance club Strictly Rhythm, top floor of the Savoy in the 90’s with DJ Niall Colgan, are back for one night only this Saturday 13 at The Record Room. With Aoife Nic Canna and Niall on the decks, the duo will celebrate the iconic New York record label that pioneered House music and inspired Limerick clubbers for a decade.
