A LIMERICK lingerie business which specialises in making post-mastectomy women enjoy wearing beautiful underwear again has just celebrated its 13th year in business.

Based in Ballyneety, Bravelle specialises in bras, swimwear and breast prostheses for breast cancer survivors.

The company was founded by Pauline Conway following her own breast cancer surgery and subsequent difficulties in finding suitable post-mastectomy bras. Her experience has allowed her to create a business supplying lingerie previously unavailable in Ireland.

Today Bravelle is run by Pauline and her daughter Kate, who are both fully trained as professional prosthesis fitters. Pauline says she is dedicated to assisting customers in recovering their femininity after breast cancer surgery.

“It’s truly rewarding to see women leave Bravelle with a renewed sense of confidence.

“We reject the notion that post-mastectomy underwear has to be drab or outdated. We invest in mid-season collections from cutting-edge designers, as well as everyday lingerie essentials,” she told the Limerick Post.

Both full and partial prostheses are available at the boutique and lingerie and swimwear have pockets to accommodate them.

Earlier this year, the company achieved international recognition when leading lights in Irish Business descended on Croke Park for the fourth annual All-Ireland Business Summit.

The Business All-Stars competition final was one of the key elements of the summit. The annual competition aims to identify, recognise and accredit Irish companies and individuals that have distinguished themselves in the conduct of their business.

Bravelle business manager Kate Conway said that achieving All-Stars accreditation was a great source of pride for the company and they looked forward to exceeding the standards set by the All-Star programme.
