THE International Rugby Experience project in the heart of Limerick City has been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanála.

The 30,000sqft development on the junction of O’Connell Street and Cecil Street would involve the demolition of 40 and 41 O’Connell Street and pave the way for the construction of seven-storey block with a two-storey portico fronting the city’s main thoroughfare.

Limerick TD Niall Collins posted to Twitter today saying “this is very welcome news and will hugely add to the sport and tourism offering in Limerick”.

“This is a €30 Million investment which will attract tens of thousands of visitors to Limerick annually,” the Fianna Fáil TD added.
