THE star-studded cast of this year’s eagerly awaited Robert C Kelly and University Concert Hall Panto, Snow White, were in Limerick today to launch this year’s production.

This year sees comedian, actress and TV personality Katherine Lynch make her Limerick panto debut in the starring role of the Wicked Queen. Katherine was joined for today’s launch by fellow cast members – her Dancing with the Stars co-star Dayl Cronin, fellow comedian Tom O’Mahony and Limerick stars Myles Breen and Richard Lynch, also returning to the panto stage this year is Hayley-Jo Murphy.

Making his UCH Panto debut this year and in Limerick for the launch were David Crowley, best known for his role as Garda Sean Holden in TV3’s Red Rock, John Sharpson of RTÉ Junior and Jacqueline Brunton.

Panto favourite, Richie Hayes who has been a feature of the UCH since its inception in 2012 was not in attendance due to prior commitments in Florida but he is looking forward to being reunited with the cast for rehearsals later this month and to starring in his 7th UCH panto this Christmas.

In a faraway magical kingdom, the beautiful but lonely Princess, Snow White (Hayley-Jo Murphy), is forced by the cruel Queen, to work as a maid in their enormous palace. The Queen is attractive (in an older lady that looks after herself kind of way!) and very vain, needing a daily dose of praise from her far too opinionated, Magic Mirror.

Suddenly, the day dawns that Mirror dares to suggest the younger, more fresh-faced Snow White is now the “fairest in the land”…and no amount of botox, serum or fake tan is going to change it this time.

Intent on banishing her stepdaughter from the Kingdom forever, Snow White is taken deep into the forest. However, despite the jealous Queen’s cruel intentions, this is just the beginning of our heroine’s adventure!

Expect all the magic of this traditional tale. . . with a contemporary twist!

A Princess. . . and a Pop Band (of the “boy” variety!) – this is Snow White as you have never seen it before!
