Protest march over housing crisis

PROTESTERS will take to the cityโ€™s streets later this month to demand sustainable solutions to the deepening housing crisis.

Organised byย Limerick Housing Action, the marchย will start from the Peopleโ€™s Park at 1pm on Saturday, February 23ย  and make its way to City Hall where it will be addressed by a number of speakers.

The recently formed group of community activists aims are to provide support for those affected by the housing crisis and to demand meaningful change.

There has been a 256 per cent increase in the number of children homeless in Limerick since 2016, with six per centย of people currently homeless in Ireland living in the Mid-West region.

โ€œThe government must be held accountable for its shameless inaction and on February 23, our demands will be made clear,โ€ a spokesperson for the group said.

Anyone interested in getting involved with the group should attend an open meetingย on Monday, February 11ย at 7pmย in the Northside Family Resource Centre.
