The Irish rugby squad have been in Limerick all week as they continue their preparation for this year’s World Cup in Japan.

Joe Schmidt and has backroom team have been putting the players through paces at the University of Limerick this week and their stay culminated with an open session in Thomond Park on Friday.

Limerick born Sean Cronin was happy to be back on familiar soil and gave an insight into the tough nature of the work put in over the last few days.

“It’s been tough. Even the weight sessions have been pretty intense. They’re getting the best out of us.

“I think lads are enjoying it. We get to go home with a good week behind you done. They are tough and the coaches are demanding and are trying to get the best out of us.

“We have had Galway and now Limerick and the lads can look forward to a bit of downtime in the next week and get ready for that big week in Abbotstown.”

The former Shannon and Munster hooker also spoke about how Jean Kleyn has settled into the squad.
