Tuesday talks at St Mary’s Cathedral

Athens, by Raphael.

โ€œFINDING meaning in our cultureโ€ is the sense that underpins a February series of Tuesday weekly talks at 1pm in St Maryโ€™s Cathedral. The lunchtime exploration begins on Tuesday 4 next with Limerick City Gallery of Artโ€™s director รšna McCarthy talking about Raphaelโ€™s art.

With โ€˜David Copperfieldโ€™ now running in cinemas nationally, a look at Charles Dickensโ€™ canon is subject matter for Dr John McDonagh on Tuesday February 11 and music occupies space on Tuesday 18. Thatโ€™s when musicologist Dr Michael Murphy takes the gathering through aspects of Beethovenโ€™s music.

The monthโ€™s talks, gathered under the title of โ€˜How Shall I Sing Thy Majestyโ€™ and exploring art forms, finalises with Zeb Moore talking about Alfred Hitchcockโ€™s legacy. Zeb is co-founder of the Richard Harris International Film Festival taking place each October bank holiday week.
