Down Syndrome Limerick organises virtual half-marathon fundraiser

DOWN Syndrome Limerick has organised a virtual half marathon to help raise funds for the local charity which is run by parents who volunteer their time to better the lives of their children.

In an effort to raise some funds for the charity, so that it can continue to support members when doors reopen, the group is asking people to run or walk a half marathon in a month starting from May 25.

A spokesperson for the charity said, “As with many other charities at this time, our fundraising has been severely and adversely affected by the Covid crisis. Our members have received no therapies or supports since we closed the service in March.”

Participants can do as little or as much as they want at any one time, while complying with the HSE and public health Covid guidelines.

“We would love to see people from across the county, country and further afield join together in taking part and supporting our charity. We would be very appreciative if you would consider mentioning our event in your various media channels,” the spokesperson said.
