Gardai arrest woman and man after cash and suspected drugs seized by armed gardai at Limerick home

GARDAÍ targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick have arrested a woman in her 60s as part of investigations into a seizure of almost €17,500 in cash at a house in the city.

The woman was arrested yesterday when armed gardai swooped on a property, located in St Mary’s Park.

During the planned operation gardai also arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the discovery of a small quantity of suspected drugs.

“At around 8pm Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by the Armed Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a house in the Saint Marys Park area. During the course of the search Gardaí seized almost €17,500 in cash,” said a Garda spokesman.

“A woman, aged in her 60s, was arrested at the scene and brought to Henry Street Garda Station where she is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.”

“A man, aged in his 40s, was also arrested at the house following the seizure of small quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis herb,” the spokesman said.

“A weighing scales and a number of zip lock bags were also seized. The man is currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”
