THREE time All-Star Ciarán Carey sat down with Sporting Limerick’s Raffaele Rocca to analyse Limerick’s All-Ireland triumph last Sunday.
Ciarán Carey was all praise for Limerick’s All-Ireland victory in Croke Park last Sunday on the most recent episode of Treaty Talk.
The Patrickswell native offered an interesting insight not only of the game itself, but of how Limerick’s triumph will echo throughout hurling folklore for decades to come.
“This particular team, what they’re actually doing presently and what they have done is something that we haven’t witnessed at all before”
Carey also touched on the important role atmosphere plays in a significant fixture. The atmosphere in Sunday’s All-Ireland clash is of stark contrast to last years fixture; a cold, empty Croke Park hosting the championships ultimate fixture, on a dark December evening.
Thankfully, Sunday’s atmosphere was vastly different to the games predecessor eight months earlier. Despite the stadium only being at half capacity, the vibrations of excitement from those who were there more than made up for the empty seats.
“Even though it was only around half capacity, it added to the day and added to the occasion hugely.

Carey spoke about the importance of a bond within a squad, using this Limerick team as a perfect example. Carey parsed the family like culture within the squad and argued that achieving the three All-Ireland’s in four years without this bond would be vastly more difficult.
“Inevitably, what Limerick are doing and what they’ve achieved in the last four years, unless you have that connection as a squad, as an army, as a family atmosphere. You have to get the fundamentals right and thats a big one in any squad.”
