Clare’s Wish Foundation Announces Munster Rugby Player Ben Healy As New Charity Ambassador

Ben Healy warms up ahead of Munster’s Monday Night Rugby game against the Cardiff Blues in Thomond Park in the Guinness Pro 14

LOCAL Limerick Charity, Clare’s Wish Foundation is delighted to announce Munster Rugby player, Ben Healy as their new charity Ambassador. A native of Nenagh in Co. Tipperary, Ben is based in Limerick, playing professional rugby for Munster and has come on board as an ambassador with Clare’s Wish Foundation to build awareness for the work the charity do and help out with fundraising initiatives planned in the coming year.

Clare’s Wish Foundation was founded in 2013 and is supported entirely by individuals, businesses and community groups. This foundation is the only Irish charity dedicated to providing wishes exclusively to adults with terminal illnesses. Clare’s Wish have granted over 126 wishes since they started, bringing sparkle into the lives of people that need it most.

The last 18 months have been really hard for everyone, especially for charities that have had to cancel the majority of their fundraising initiatives. Like a lot of charities, Clare’s Wish Foundation has been heavily impacted by Covid 19 losing 90% of its fundraising ability. Sadly, this pandemic has not stopped terminal illnesses and wish requests are still coming through to Clare’s Wish Foundation, who are doing all they can to continue to grant them.

Recent wishes granted include a log cabin for Jemma McGowan (27) from Omagh Co Tyrone, wife to Clive and wonderful mum to 3 beautiful babies Sadie, Louis & Betty. This is Jemma’s second time facing a cancer diagnosis and is currently fighting advanced stage 4 ovarian cancer. Jemma’s wish was for a log cabin where she can set up her bed, continue her treatments & store her suitcases of medication safely away from her small children. When her time is up, she would love for the cabin to be a nice place for her children & husband to go to remember her.
