JP McManus secures leading Grand National contender

THE prestigious race takes place this April.

JP McManus has bolstered his rank of horses after securing Aintree hopeful Enjoy D’Allen. The eight year old will stay with trainer Ciaran Murphy in Westmeath as they prepare for the festival in April.

The Grand National is the centre piece of the even and will take place this year on April 9 at 1.45pm in the Liverpool venue.

Enjoy D’Allen came third in the Irish Grand National last year and is one of the favourites for this years Grand National in Aintree with odds in and around 16/1.

Speaking on the acquisition to At the Races, Murphy said,

“It’s huge for us that we could recommend a horse of this calibre to Mr McManus and that he will stay in training here at Charlestown.

“He’s in good order after his latest run over hurdles at Leopardstown and the plan is to keep him fresh and go straight to Aintree.

“He ran a cracker in the Paddy Power at Christmas and it’s now all about getting him to Aintree in good form.”

McManus has won the Grand National twice in the past, first in 2010 with Don’t Push It under Tony McCoy and last year as Rachael Blackmore became the first female rider to land the marathon chase aboard Minella Times.
