LIMERICK City and County Council has confirmed that upgrade works at the People’s Park playground in Limerick City will be delivered as part of a €150,000 programme of improvements at the park by the end of this year.

Social Democrats councillor Elisa O’Donovan questioned the local authority on the works at this month’s Metropolitan District meeting and pointed out that they were “long overdue”.

In response, the Council’s Director of Service for Planning, Nuala Gallagher said that the council was seeking quotations from consultants to design and deliver the new playground for the People’s Park.

“It is expected that consultants will be appointed by the end of March and the project delivered by the end of this year,” Ms Gallagher said.
